I had both for a short time. I had originally intended to give the 11" netbook version to my exec assistant. But even she found it too small to use comfortably on a daily basis. I sold it and bought her a 13" MBP instead since she doesn't travel much and the extra size was fine with her.

I think its popular due to the novelty/size of having an OSX device that small. But I'm happy with the 13" MBA instead.

Apple Store in Stoneridge Mall (Pleasanton, CA) got a good shipment in yesterday (3-30-11) and didn't sell out until around 11:00 (according to the Zagg kiosk right outside). I got there at 05:30am and was #19 in line; they easily had a hundred units of varying models. First to go were of course AT&T, but I got one (32GB) and so did the lady behind me.

Canceled my online order, so hopefully someone waiting online will get theirs earlier!

    Hurray for the magpod

I'm looking forward to the final release of the iPhone (or whatever it will be called), but not the reaction on the internet. People have been wanting this for so long, that unless it comes out with as good (better?) of video as the iPod, half a year on a single charge battery life, 7 MP camera, unrestricted song playing (hahahaha), GPS, web browsing to match computers, and, I dunno, let's say a it can build you a small, live puppy out of grass, people are going to be disappointed.

    Edit: congrats prady16

Oww that's so cute, you actually believe that all those workers in china that work for Apple are there by choice and can just quit and get another job somewhere else. Trust me you would not work in thier conditions.

They don't work for Apple they work for Foxconn. Please get your facts straight before you chastise someone. The article states Foxconn investigated and called the cops.

Its obvious you have never worked as a contractor or else you would know these things. The last thing a contractor wants to do is lose their client and will deal with employees who do something that negatively impacts the client.

"Several online shopping retailers in China were able to sell iPad 2's protective case products before the iPad 2 was even launched, leading Foxconn to suspect that there might have been some employees leaking the design of iPad 2 which it reported to the local police.

The local police on December 26, arrested three employees that were suspected of leaking the design, and officially charged the three employees for violating the company's trade secrets on March 23, the reported added."

A few digg comments have stated that edgesuite is owned by akamai who scales traffic for apple.

    Whoops, missed that.

Well, why wouldn't a Mac recognise 32TB? Of course it will, however, you only get 32TB of usable storage if you configure that device as JBOD or RAID0 (which is bonkers).

But to be honest, the probability that everyone here has got a Mac with that very unit, so that he can tell you specific details is almost zero.
So your best bet is to call the Dulce and ask them anything you want to know.

For $5000 (does it actually include drives? If not, add another $3000) I definitely wouldn't buy that thing without knowing every little detail about it.

It's leftover from Prohibition. Heck, the state didn't even officially legalize alcohol again until the 50s.

Prohibition? Thank Gawd there are no leftovers from that up here.

My point is, Steve KNEW the antenna was a problem. Yet because he's a complete sucker for a 'revolutionary' design, he still went ahead. Then point blank denied there being a problem.

I can understand wanting to do damage control, but denying anything is wrong is unfair and insulting.

That, combined with Apple apparently no longer giving a crap about the Mac (classic Pirates of Silicon Vally manoeuvre - putting the iOS team up against the Mac team) have screwed everyone over.

Remember, Apple is supposed to be a company that makes computers (as in desktop/laptop). However it now seems they are a Mobile Devices company, with a side-project (the Mac). This is Steve's doing.

Its time for him to step aside. The guy has admitted in the past that he likes focusing on ONE project. That project is iOS...he's done with the Mac.

You don't KNOW these things, you assume them.
They make 2-3 times as much money as when they only made computers, I don't see the problem.

No need for vulgar words. I just wrote, what worked for me, like many other people at many universities worldwide, the least frustrating. Why don't you try Endnote before lamenting? There is a trial version on their homepage to download. You could also ask at your university or the company of the app for a price reduction. Some universities give such programmes even for free. And before I forget, yes, academics have a tough job and it's often cumbersome work to write scientific papers.

Please, stop being so precious. If it isn't people who write for pages but their essays have no meaning what so ever, there are those who are precious individuals who need to grow some thicker skin and hand the cut and thrust of a robust debate.

If you actually spent some time reading what I wrote instead of whining about the 'vulgar language' (when compared to your bloviated paragraph with little in the way of 'meat on the bone'), I clearly stated the following:

ignore the fact that every time i have tried to use it there is zero integration

    So I have used it.

Maybe I should have written it differently: Word is crashing more often and getting slower when your report gets more images/graphs/tables and more text. All other word processors I tried had less problems in this regard.

I will definitely not argue with you about the number of people writing a thesis or how long a thesis should be. That would be childish. But please keep in mind that not all university courses have the same requirements and not everywhere in this world the anglo-american system is in use.

But anything heavily graphical on Word succks royally whether it is on Windows or Mac OS X - it is the nature of the beast, you're using something in a way it was never designed. If you really want to have something that is WYSIWYG then you're better off using Framemaker or what ever Adobe call it these days (IIRC its some rebranded version of Indesign IIRC).

Would you please be so kind to keep your responses moderate? I have never written anything that led to the assumption I would use "stupid formatting and other crap" nor have I ever written anything about desktop publishing. I used a thesis as an example above, so let's keep it there. If you have ever seen a thesis, you know there is only few formatting. Still problems occur with MS Word. Others seem to experience them as well. If Word fits your bill, great. If not, all I want to say is there are other solutions at hand and, hey, they are not at all inferior. I dare to say, most are a better treat for your money. And as you imply, you are on a tight budget. So it would make sense to buy a cheaper word processor that can interact with your bibliography tool. You will have to buy the tool anyway, whatever word processor you use.

On a side note, even if I would use Word as a desktop publisher, it would be common sense to expect flawless exchange to other versions of Word, regardless of what complicated formatting or "crap" I do and regardless of the underlying OS. Still MS manages to do a ridiculously lousy job in terms of compatibility with their own programmes, if on purpose or by carelessness for their customers, I can't say.

When hundreds of thousands of university students can use Microsoft Office 2011 (and god forbid 2008) on a regular basis without all the drama and emotion that your experiences have then I'd say there must be something very wrong in your part of the world.

A human newborn left out on their own would not survive.

So someone must raise that child up to the point where it could survive on its own.

And until that point, it would indeed "depend on others".

Adults that can survive on their own.

As of right now, you cannot buy one for $159 each. Read the page: it says "currently unavailable."

I read the page smart@$$ and then ordered two. At that price they sold out. Clearly NOT one of the ones with half an ounce of common sense and CLEARLY one of the ignorant ones with a superiority complex. This is why us switchers don't like "Apple' people like you.

    The base model has a 5660 @ $800.

What base model? I was looking at the 3797$ configuration you linked, which has 1663$ CPU in it..

    BTW, X5660 (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=47921) costs 1219$... A config with that is around 3000$.

I have no idea what you are trying to achieve since no matter how much you try to justify it or post false specs and prices, it won't make the SP Mac Pro any better value. It costs a lot more than Dell's equivalent. Period.

It think what many of us feel (most of us?) is that iCal's a little useless without being integrated into Mail. Having to shuttle back and forth is inefficient. The little "shortcuts" (hacks) that Apple seems to be using make it even more annoying in my opinion. They don't want to go head to head with entourage, I get it, but until you do, iCal gets deleted from my machine.
I disagree. I like how its seperate. What could you possibly need to sync between Mail and iCal anyways..... Event invties... ohh wait that works. I believe its better to have 3 seperate programs instead of entourage... that way you can be more efficient with your use. Like for instance, when I use my laptop in class I close Mail... cause I don't have Internet, but I still need iCal. So its perfect. I mean the only downside is that you have to click to open two apps. I don't see anything else. WHat can you integrate between the two other than contacts which is its own program.

I think its perfect how it is. I would love to see new features, new features are always great; I just can't think of any. Ohh I know one. Making things in iCal have links to documents so if a To-Do is to like finish a project.. u can link to the files so its all there, due date, importance, notes, location of files. And maybe they could work on the calendars (categories). Smart calendars would be nice. And more flexibility with calendars. I don't really see any other problems. I'm sure there are I'm just not that good at looking.
