Me too. I honestly think the proximity sensor is a bigger issue, in a way, because there IS a remedy (though some don't like it) by using a case. Whereas the proximity sensor is what it is, and we're powerless to fix it, or remedy it unless Apple recognizes, addresses it, and fixes it. But with all the attention to the antenna, I'm afraid the proximity sensor stuff is (for now) slipping thru the cracks.
Apple would be the heroes if they address this tomorrow. They'd do themselves a favor to be the first to make it widely known, then to have it become phase two in iPhonegate.

I have the same problem with the two MBAs also. I REALLY want the 11" for the form factor. But the larger SSD, screen, and SD slot on the 13" make it a much better fit as a "main" machine.
I have a desktop also, but I want a portable to use as my "main" since I can have it with me more. To qualify for this I need the ability to synch an iPhone and iPad and want the ability to process photos from a camera. The 11" can do this but with the limited storage it's a stretch. And the SD slot in the 13" means one less adaptor to carry. And the longer battery life in the 13" is good too.
But my heart yearns for the 11" form factor. If they could reduce some of the border around the 13" so the dimensions were a little smaller, it would be perfect. If they could increase the storage in the 11" and maybe fit a slightly bigger display in that frame it would be the winner also to me.
As it I'm trapped in the middle "knowing" the 13" is better for me but "wanting" the 11" just the same.

I get a kick out of reading these types of forums. The "my import is so much better than your domestic" types are really just a bunch of poseurs. Several years ago I owned a bar and I had a standing bet that no one could pick their brand out of a six glass line up. I had to pay a guy once, but I think he got a lucky guess, 1 out of 6, the odds are that someone will guess correctly. To me, beer is beer. Golf and hanging out at the lake are about the only time I drink beer anyway. My drink of choice is whiskey, Jack Daniel's Tennessee Sippin whiskey neat to be specific. Anyone who mixes good whiskey with ANYTHING should be put to death on the spot. Mix with blends, not the good stuff. And for those of you who don't know, Jack Daniel's IS NOT BOURBON. i seriously effing hope it's more than <snip> virtual desktops. that's pathetic. we need a revolutionary OS revision.Picture this - Steve Jobs is demo'ing Leopard and he pulls out a really old iMac... and says "it also works really fast on one of these"... then he reveals that it's a "virtual desktop" running remotely. You can buy a Mac Mini and have up to 2 old Macs acting as terminals (or buy an "Apple Terminal"). Then he shows the quad machine with the new Apple terminal hub, and says that a school can add this baby to their classroom and instantly have a virtual upgrade for 30 old eMacs (video editing not included - for that you need to buy Macs)
Any chance virtual desktops could refer to that? .. since that's what I want...
ps. Oh... of course, terminals aren't just for your home network, they allow remote connections and an iPad.

My suggestion is exactly the same as yours. Unfortunately though for those who wish Israel to remain a Jewish state, it would not be viable. This is where the fundamentally racist zionist ideology is at odds with what is essentially the only solution to this conflict.

However the fundamentalist Jews believe that they are also religiously entitled much of the land outside of Israel proper (the West Bank). The problem is if Israel were to go and say "The west bank is now part of Israel, and all of its inhabitants are now Israeli citizens", we would have our Jewish state problem (too many Arabs). So what do the Israelis do? They go in and build Jewish-only settlements, which are not exactly part of Israel, but Israeli law extends to them, the Israeli military defends them and the Israeli government supports them.
As you can imagine though the people who live in these areas aren't too happy about this slow annexation of their land and their rights, which is why there is this conflict.
This is why the notion that Israel is a democracy is so laughable. It is a democracy in Israel proper, where the Jews are artificially kept the majority (i.e it's a democracy for the Jews in Israel proper), but in areas where they would like to be but do not want Arab influence in their politics, they build Jewish only settlements. So it's a "democracy" only where they want it to be and for those they choose based on ethnic/religious background.

So do you have AUS$330 just laying around on top of purchasing an office suite? ignore the fact that every time i have tried to use it there is zero integration - when I mean integration I mean, I click on 'insert' and bang, there it is - show me inserting citations through a third party tool in Pages that isn't the painful equivalent of putting a porcupine up my ass.
No need for vulgar words. I just wrote, what worked for me, like many other people at many universities worldwide, the least frustrating. Why don't you try Endnote before lamenting? There is a trial version on their homepage to download. You could also ask at your university or the company of the app for a price reduction. Some universities give such programmes even for free. And before I forget, yes, academics have a tough job and it's often cumbersome work to write scientific papers.
Btw, very few people write 150 page thesis. The vast majority go to university to complete their Bachelors or Masters, neither of them requiring the writing of 150 pages.
Maybe I should have written it differently: Word is crashing more often and getting slower when your report gets more images/graphs/tables and more text. All other word processors I tried had less problems in this regard.
I will definitely not argue with you about the number of people writing a thesis or how long a thesis should be. That would be childish. But please keep in mind that not all university courses have the same requirements and not everywhere in this world the anglo-american system is in use.

Others seem to experience them as well. If Word fits your bill, great. If not, all I want to say is there are other solutions at hand and, hey, they are not at all inferior. I dare to say, most are a better treat for your money. And as you imply, you are on a tight budget. So it would make sense to buy a cheaper word processor that can interact with your bibliography tool. You will have to buy the tool anyway, whatever word processor you use.
On a side note, even if I would use Word as a desktop publisher, it would be common sense to expect flawless exchange to other versions of Word, regardless of what complicated formatting or "crap" I do and regardless of the underlying OS. Kill them or drive them out, simply because if they merge the non-Jewish population would quickly outnumber the Jewish population. If it becomes a true democracy and these non-Jews are given voting rights, then the state will quickly lean towards an Arab state rather than a Jewish state due to greater Arab influence.

Mobile DDR3 1.3ghz is the same speed, and will bench the same as Desktop DDR3 1.3ghz. The only difference between desktop ram and mobile ram is that desktop ram can reach speeds higher than 1.3ghz and can be over clocked. While Mobile ram takes awhile to reach higher speeds (It wasn't until 2010 where mobile DDR3 reached 1.3ghz) and the dimms are smaller, and cost more for there smaller size. Speed wise, if they are listed the same speed, both will bench the same.
Apple using mobile GPU's is simply because of heat/speed ratio. Even a 27 inch iMac couldn't take the heat generation of a Nvidia 470/570/580. Mobile GPU generally provide excellent performance with less heat output. Until high end desktop video cards start becoming single slot solutions again and finally tackle heat generation, Apple will most likely continue to only put mobile GPU's in iMacs.

Go to Dell's page, I just customized one of their PowerEdge 2950's to be EXACTLY the same as the Xserve (except for the OS) and here's the diff:
You forgot the processors. the XServe had 2.0GHz chips, the Dell has the 3.00.
Even so, the XServe with 2x3.00GHz Xeon 5160 chips is only $4,798, and as you said has a graphics card, faster RAM, and also has larger DIMMs so more slots are still open.
