Apple wouldn't give the iMac's faster chips than the MacBook Pro's again, would they?
My 1.25 PowerBook is almost three years old. The old "Al" enclosure is getting a bit long-lived. It is tried and true, though.

Aluminium is around 2.50 USD/Kg
Magneium is can be had for $16 USD/Metric Tonne
magnesium is definetly cheaper:eek:
Hurray for the magpod
on the other hand... maybe apple is using the magnesium for a real super computer (http://www.magnesium.com/w3/news-room/news_open.php?news=2261);)

In a way this makes the iPhone cheaper, seeing how I will save on a GPS device . Although right now iPhones tell me to drive into buildings in my city, so a revamp of the whole thing is always good.
LOL, this reminded me of the Office episode where GPS tells Michael to drive into the lake, and he does.

As expected...we are on the waning end of the "hype arc".
Geeze dude...people are right about your constant criticism. Grab some Ben & Jerry's, and put a smile on that face:)

I suppose the "True Video" iPod will be released at a special event along side the iPhone and PowerBook G5? :p
(Well, two out of the three would be nice.)
One more thing: Jobs presents Duke Nukem Forever! :D

Office 2011 Piracy Detection is also BROKEN!
If you change a Hard disk in a Mac Pro. Add one, Change one, add one to the pool over ESATA, etc, it's detected as a change in the hardware footprint and requires you to reactivate.
It forced me to stop using office 2011 as I commonly access archive disks...

Well, they could announce it, and offer pre-order programs for apple.com and it would be important for offering Pre-Orders for the other major Ipod Retailers.

1- Since ZFS won't be arriving, a filesystem which isn't comprised of duct-tape and superglue. This won't happen of course.
2- Resolution independence. Has been Coming Real Soon, it's ALMOST READY, for like 150 years now. This won't happen either, maybe by 10.9 or so.
3- Mail should swallow a reasonable subset of the InDev MailTags and Mail ActOn features, and provide a reasonable plug-in API, so that all the things it can't do, could be made possible by 3rd parties without crawling through the minefield (GPGMail, and, oh yeah, the InDev stuff, which lately seems to have stood still in this neverending attempt to just bring back some stability. Meh).
4- GCD and OpenCL? They should actually, ya know, get utilized once in a while. It'd be awesome to use a 12-core Mac Pro for something other than Maya, compiling, and video games, and have it feel like a 12-core instead of an iMac.
5- iTunes? Please scrape it out of the tarpit, and port it to Cocoa, instead of being this weird C++ app, which uses almost no native frameworks, crawls in slow-motion, never sees more than 1 core (that I'm aware of, perhaps it does something magical when ripping those old-school CD's I've heard legends about), and in general.. sucks hard, and is totally wedged into the middle of all the iCrap which makes it very difficult to just ignore and kick to the curb.
5.5- iTunes? It's really not.. is it. How about breaking apart all those features and either integrating 'em into the OS, or into a collection of programs which aren't this giant, slow, bloated mess, using a codebase from 900 years ago.
6- When I smack the side of my Mac Pro, I'd like for it to get up and dance and spin the screen around in a pretty swirl of colors and patterns. I should be able to touch, pinch, swipe, feel up, and lick, the interface. Also, if at all possible, in addition to speech, there should be a universal option for the computer to sing all text output and input to me.
Out of the above features, only #6 has a reasonable chance of materializing in my humble opinion.
You sound like you've been a lurker for some time that's just registered. GREAT post!

Magnesium is also used for underwater and air flares. So, I suppose if you're out at sea and your diving lights go out, you could tinder the ol' iPod as an underwater torch. Or, maybe if you're being chased by heat-seeking missiles you could ignite your iPod and toss it out the window...
I'm sure whatever they do it will be fine, though...

So i'm personally hoping that 2-4 week delay = the new processor in the iMac.
Speaking of which, I just had a strange thing happen in the Belgian online Apple store. I was looking at the bottom line MacBook Pro and trying out options. Then I saw shipping time was 5 days, without any special options.
I went to the U.S. online store and tried the same, but it said 24 hours. So I went back to the Belgian one and now it also said 24 hours.
So 5 days from now, that's the 8th, which is after the keynote. Make of it what you will, but here's to hoping for new MBPs :)
Btw, before anyone asks: I didn't think to make a screenshot.

Humans that can survive on their own without depending on others.
Even if we're proudly self-reliant and self-employed, we depend on customers and the society they belong to.
Without them, we're back to being hunter-gatherers and dying in our late twenties from some minor ailment like an infected wound or a parasite picked up from drinking contaminated water.

I continue to be amazed by the number of students at my community college that have iPhones. These are students who for the most part are struggling to make ends meet, yet were willing to spend their limited cash that way. There are at least two or three students with iPhones in each of my classes; two years ago, I didn't see any -- and mine was a curiosity to them.
well depends how things are paid for you might be less impressed.
I am a struggling college student but out side of school expenses my only other cost is gas for my car.
That means insurance and phone bill is covered by my parents that frees up a fair amount of resources to get smart phones and from others I talk to in school that is often times a big help parents give is covering cost other than school.
As for smart phones I know at were I go to school the phone that is common on campus depends which college you are in. If it is the computer science and Engineering then iPhone is in the minority. Android rules the roost followed by Blackberry. The iPhone in a class of 30 you will see 2 some times 3. By enlarge it is Android followed by blackberry. iPhone is in the small minority. WP7 I will see out numbering the iPhone soon.
Now if you go to the other building on that has education and business (along with art) rules change and iPhone becomes much more popular.
Now back to us SCE students area a lot of us own iPods and I know the iPads out number the iPhones but for a phone we just do not like iOS end of story. Android is were a lot of the students want to go for.

Wow, I have been scouring the net for a downloadable file of the WWDC2006 keynote and finally the holy grail for keynote addicts has been provided. Thanks Expowiki.org
Drop them some cash so we can count on them to provide the next keynote for all of us. I did!
Ahh, we didn't know who it was from! Thanks a lot, much appreciated! Hope you enjoy the site. :)

this will be the new and improved "sync" ... btw if this isn't what they are going to do i still recommend taking a look at mac os x's mobile user configurations as it really is brilliant (as it also has the side effect of auto-backing up your laptop to a different machine))
Whats this, i have never heard of this, is it part of the OS, can someone help me out, either explain how to access this or where tor ead up on it.
The thing that gets me  is the 3d capabilities. A 3d dock? A 3d expose? A 3d filesystem viewer? or just a simple 3d affect used when, i dunno turning on?
eww Flip 3d (http://www.winsupersite.com/images/reviews/vista-5219-review-flip3d.jpg) That image just goes to show what is wrong with the way Expose is implimented in Vista, what is that on the last window, have no idea. Expose is best in 2D no need for 3D.
I hope with the release of Leopard OS X doesn't require a reboot for updates or any sort. I'd also like to save my sessions upon shutting down. All the same windows open and in the same place as I left it. Another one would be a more GUI options for the firewall and perhaps an add-on for snort. I know third party tools exist, but I'd like it to be built into the OS. Widgets that can become part of the the desktop background, but not replace it. I'm sure I could make a huge list of improvements, but these are a few that I'd really like to see done.
I like these ideas, i already have developer mode switched on so i can have the widgets on the desktop, but i would prefer them to be a part of the background like you said. Really cool idea.
